چکیده
Naveh, Y., and Friedman, A. (1973). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 48, 967. Rifampicin therapy in Gram-negative bacteraemia in infancy. Rifampicin was given to 3 severely ill infants suffering from septicaemia due to klebsiella, Shigella flexneri, and Esch. coli, after numerous other antibiotics had proved ineffective. Rifampicin proved to be rapidly effective. No untoward side effects were observed.

Improved Outcome with Early Rifampicin Combination Treatment in Methicillin-Sensitive Staphylococcus aureus Bacteraemia with a Deep Infection Focus – A Retrospective Cohort Study
INTRODUCTION Rifampicin has been used as adjunctive therapy in Staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia (SAB) with a deep infection focus. However, data for prognostic impact of rifampicin therapy is unestablished including the optimal initiation time point. We studied the impact of rifampicin therapy and the optimal initiation time for rifampicin treatment on prognosis in methicillin-sensitive S. aur...
متن کاملDoes combination antimicrobial therapy reduce mortality in Gram-negative bacteraemia? A meta-analysis.
The use of combination antimicrobial therapy for bacteraemia caused by Gram-negative bacilli is controversial. We did a meta-analysis of published studies to determine whether a combination of two or more antimicrobials reduces mortality in patients with Gram-negative bacteraemia. Criteria for inclusion were: analytic studies of patients with documented Gram-negative bacteraemia that included p...
متن کاملShort versus prolonged courses of antibiotic therapy for children with uncomplicated Gram-negative bacteraemia.
OBJECTIVES The optimal duration of antibiotic therapy for uncomplicated Gram-negative bacteraemia remains undefined. Our objective was to compare clinical outcomes of receiving short (7-10 days) versus prolonged (>10 days) durations of antibiotic therapy for children with uncomplicated Gram-negative bacteraemia. METHODS We conducted a retrospective cohort study of children with uncomplicated ...
متن کاملErtapenem for treatment of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing and multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteraemia.
INTRODUCTION Imipenem and meropenem are treatment of choice for extended-spectrum betalactamase (ESBL)-positive gram-negative bacteraemia. They may select for carbapenemresistant Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa; ertapenem may not do so as it is inactive against these bacteria. Clinical efficacy of ertapenem in ESBL-producing gramnegative bacteraemia is limited. MATERIALS AN...
متن کاملGram-negative bacteraemia in non-ICU patients: factors associated with inadequate antibiotic therapy and impact on outcomes.
BACKGROUND A considerable number of gram-negative bacteraemias occur outside intensive care units (ICUs). Inadequate antibiotic therapy in ICUs has been associated with adverse outcomes; however, there are no prospective studies in non-ICU patients. METHODS A 6 month (1 August 2006-31 January 2007), prospective cohort study of non-ICU patients with gram-negative bacteraemia in a tertiary-care...
